Day Six - Chicago

Last night the karma bug continued.  A woke up sick in the middle of the night.  I was worried that it would continue throughout the day and we'd have to stay put, but she woke up fine.  I guess the Chicago pizza didn't agree with her.

We started the day on the Chicago El train and made our way to Millennium Park.  I didn't realize that Lalapolooza was happening today in the same area.  There were a ton of people in glitter and fanny packs...  I'm old I guess!

 We took the train again and headed to the South Side and watched the White Sox beat the Royals.  It was a gorgeous day and we may have made tv twice.  Phillips made an amazing outfield assist from centre field to make an out at home.  And Jose Abreu hit a homerun right beside where we were sitting.  The ball was there, right beside us when a staffer came out to collect it.  I guess the kids didn't have their cute faces on right, because he picked it up and went into the clubhouse with it.  He didn't share it at all.  Spoil sport!

We went on the train a third time (we're getting good at this!) and headed to the Navy Pier.  The children's museum is free Thursdays from 5-8pm so it was a great excuse to see it.  It was awesome!  More geared towards the 8 and under crowd (A was a little bored) but the price was right!  It was like Kidtropolis and the Science Centre all in one place.


At the end of the night, we decided not to take the train back.  There were protestors set up around Wrigleyville and we thought it would be safer to not walk through them.  We took a Lyft home and are settled in for the evening.  Hopefully an evening full of sleep and no puke!!

Day Five - Minneapolis to Chicago

Today got off to a great start!  We laughed at the people heading into Minneapolis during the morning rush hour as we zoomed right out!  Ha Ha!  And then... construction!  Bam!  It dampened our spirits, but we were still moving forward!  We found a cute State Park by Wisconsin Dells to eat lunch only to discover it wasn’t for day use. So back tracked and found a picnic table and playground. It was nice. When we got back on the interstate, we were detoured into Madison. The detour took us about 45 minutes off course and then another 45 to get back on track which got us into Chicago right at RUSH HOUR. Bam.  ha ha?  Karma kicked us in the butt! The good was that Madison is very pretty. The lake on the University of Wisconsin campus is gorgeous and I would love to live there. T would not. He was less than impressed by the detour. Day Nine - Cleveland

Today started off really early. I’m not sure why none of us can sleep in... We headed to the field two hours before game time. T wanted to watch warm ups. It was HOT!  90 degrees and no wind or clouds. Just before game time, some clouds came out to give us a little break and Jose Ramirez hit a home run and literally brought rain...  Josh Donaldson who?!?  But by the second inning, it was clear skies and straight sunshine which made us all a tad uncomfortable. Luckily for us, there was a kids zone. They got to throw strikes, hit wiffle balls, and take swings off a pitching machine.  M was in heaven!  We went back and watched some of the game with T, and melted some more. On Sundays, all kids get to run the bases after the game.  A guy at the hotel said that Terry Francone likes to go out an high five all the kids.  And that some of the players will hang out on the field signing autographs.  Sadly, this was not the case today, but they still had...

Day Eleven - Niagara Falls

There's a place I know in Ontario Where the sealions kiss, so the story goes It's amazing shows and Friendship Cove Everyone loves Marine Land You'll be spinning, diving and soaring high Our roller coaster ride will fly you to the sky Now you know what you'll say when you leave here today Everyone loves Marine Land Okay, now you all have the song in your head too!  I've been singing it all day long!! We arrived right when the gates opened and headed to Friendship Cove to see the Orcas and Belugas.  The Belugas were so playful and we could only see one orca which was a little disappointing.  I hope there isn't only one left...  but I didn't ask because I didn't want to know the truth!
