Day Two - Watrous to Winnipeg

We woke up and drove through the other half of Saskatchewan today!  It was much like the first half, flat and farm-y!  We took a different route than normal, we typically stay on the TransCanada, but this time we meandered around.  The GPS said it would save us 32 minutes, so we thought we'd give it a go.  We saw some experimental farms, using tents around parts of their crops.  At first, I thought it was drying the bales out, but T googled it and it was being used to promote cross pollination and self pollination.  Very cool!  We also hit a valley that we would never know existed!  Yes, there is another hill in Saskatchewan!  It is around Q'Appelle River.  We also saw a couple of purple fields which I can only imagine is lavender.  The kids were pretty impressed when we saw the wind mills coming into Manitoba.

M was pretty impressed with the automatic pancake maker at the hotel this morning.

I was trying to explain to the kids that Portage and Main is the windiest intersection in Canada.  Of course Mother Nature had to make me look like a liar as the wind stopped when we were there.

This evening we were so lucky to have dinner with some of the Klassens.  We don't get to see them enough and it's always nice to spend time with them, no matter how short the visit is.

Tomorrow is border crossing day number one and another long day of driving.  We are looking forward to a day off of driving on Tuesday!
