11 Days

It’s getting real lol!

I started packing (against T’s last minute ways). I used my PC points and bought us all new toothbrushes...  I know, the big things matter the most!

M received 4 vouchers for the Edmonton Prospects game of his choice as a birthday present and we used them on Sunday for their afternoon game. Let me tell you, if this was a practice round, we are going to fail miserably!!  It was SO HOT!  Like 32 degrees in the stadium with zero shade. After the first inning, M took off the shirt under his jersey and we soaked it with water to cool off. We all needed breaks on the concourse to cool down. Mom and Dad broke down and bought cold beer because it sounded so good!  The kids got freezies!  To make things worse, it was the longest game ever!!  The home team won 16-2, scoring runs in almost every inning. We ended up leaving before the game ended because we couldn’t do it.  Baseball fan fail. At least I know what to pack in the game day bag to stay cool :).  Here I was, worried about the driving time and we can’t even make it through a game. To be fair, there wasn’t a lot keeping our attention during the game and I know MLB teams make things more exciting!  Also, most of the games we are going to are night games, so hopefully cooler!!

So know I’m being super picky. Hoping for no rain and no heat...  I know, I can’t make up my mind!  Is it too much to ask for warm, overcast days?!?

Day Five - Minneapolis to Chicago

Today got off to a great start!  We laughed at the people heading into Minneapolis during the morning rush hour as we zoomed right out!  Ha Ha!  And then... construction!  Bam!  It dampened our spirits, but we were still moving forward!  We found a cute State Park by Wisconsin Dells to eat lunch only to discover it wasn’t for day use. So back tracked and found a picnic table and playground. It was nice. When we got back on the interstate, we were detoured into Madison. The detour took us about 45 minutes off course and then another 45 to get back on track which got us into Chicago right at RUSH HOUR. Bam.  ha ha?  Karma kicked us in the butt! The good was that Madison is very pretty. The lake on the University of Wisconsin campus is gorgeous and I would love to live there. T would not. He was less than impressed by the detour. Day Nine - Cleveland

Today started off really early. I’m not sure why none of us can sleep in... We headed to the field two hours before game time. T wanted to watch warm ups. It was HOT!  90 degrees and no wind or clouds. Just before game time, some clouds came out to give us a little break and Jose Ramirez hit a home run and literally brought rain...  Josh Donaldson who?!?  But by the second inning, it was clear skies and straight sunshine which made us all a tad uncomfortable. Luckily for us, there was a kids zone. They got to throw strikes, hit wiffle balls, and take swings off a pitching machine.  M was in heaven!  We went back and watched some of the game with T, and melted some more. On Sundays, all kids get to run the bases after the game.  A guy at the hotel said that Terry Francone likes to go out an high five all the kids.  And that some of the players will hang out on the field signing autographs.  Sadly, this was not the case today, but they still had...

Day Eleven - Niagara Falls

There's a place I know in Ontario Where the sealions kiss, so the story goes It's amazing shows and Friendship Cove Everyone loves Marine Land You'll be spinning, diving and soaring high Our roller coaster ride will fly you to the sky Now you know what you'll say when you leave here today Everyone loves Marine Land Okay, now you all have the song in your head too!  I've been singing it all day long!! We arrived right when the gates opened and headed to Friendship Cove to see the Orcas and Belugas.  The Belugas were so playful and we could only see one orca which was a little disappointing.  I hope there isn't only one left...  but I didn't ask because I didn't want to know the truth!
