243 Days

I mailed out Christmas Letters last week with the address to the blog in it, so I figured there may be an increase of people checking it out this week.  Here's an update :)
We leave July 28th and we are following the route
Stony to Saskatoon
Saskatoon to Winnipeg
Winnipeg to Minneapolis
Minneapolis to Chicago
Chicago to Cleveland
Cleveland to Niagara Falls
Niagara to Toronto
Toronto to Cooperstown
Cooperstown to Philadelphia
Philadelphia to Baltimore
Baltimore to Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh to Cincinnati
Cincinnati to St. Louis
From St. Louis to home, we have 3 days.  I haven't worked out the stops yet, but I know we will make a detour through Peru to show the kids where T went to college. 
We arrive back in Stony on August 21st.
I know that some people live on our route and would love to get together with us, so if you would like to know the exact dates we will be in your area, let me know and we can work something out.  It's easier for people to come to us in places like Winnipeg where there are a ton of relatives :) so if we say we'll be at the Forks from X-X on X day - it'll be easier than driving around town.  And if you can make it to us, awesome! 

It's going to be a long trip, but well worth it.  The kids are at the perfect age to spend 80+ hours in a car together...  I don't think there's ever a perfect age, but I do think now is the time to make this happen.  So away we go!  Well, in 243 days!!

Day Five - Minneapolis to Chicago

Today got off to a great start!  We laughed at the people heading into Minneapolis during the morning rush hour as we zoomed right out!  Ha Ha!  And then... construction!  Bam!  It dampened our spirits, but we were still moving forward!  We found a cute State Park by Wisconsin Dells to eat lunch only to discover it wasn’t for day use. So back tracked and found a picnic table and playground. It was nice. When we got back on the interstate, we were detoured into Madison. The detour took us about 45 minutes off course and then another 45 to get back on track which got us into Chicago right at RUSH HOUR. Bam.  ha ha?  Karma kicked us in the butt! The good was that Madison is very pretty. The lake on the University of Wisconsin campus is gorgeous and I would love to live there. T would not. He was less than impressed by the detour. Day Nine - Cleveland

Today started off really early. I’m not sure why none of us can sleep in... We headed to the field two hours before game time. T wanted to watch warm ups. It was HOT!  90 degrees and no wind or clouds. Just before game time, some clouds came out to give us a little break and Jose Ramirez hit a home run and literally brought rain...  Josh Donaldson who?!?  But by the second inning, it was clear skies and straight sunshine which made us all a tad uncomfortable. Luckily for us, there was a kids zone. They got to throw strikes, hit wiffle balls, and take swings off a pitching machine.  M was in heaven!  We went back and watched some of the game with T, and melted some more. On Sundays, all kids get to run the bases after the game.  A guy at the hotel said that Terry Francone likes to go out an high five all the kids.  And that some of the players will hang out on the field signing autographs.  Sadly, this was not the case today, but they still had...

Day Eleven - Niagara Falls

There's a place I know in Ontario Where the sealions kiss, so the story goes It's amazing shows and Friendship Cove Everyone loves Marine Land You'll be spinning, diving and soaring high Our roller coaster ride will fly you to the sky Now you know what you'll say when you leave here today Everyone loves Marine Land Okay, now you all have the song in your head too!  I've been singing it all day long!! We arrived right when the gates opened and headed to Friendship Cove to see the Orcas and Belugas.  The Belugas were so playful and we could only see one orca which was a little disappointing.  I hope there isn't only one left...  but I didn't ask because I didn't want to know the truth!
